About the topic

Anasoft litera is the award for the best prosaic book in Slovakia. Student project Re-book is about redesigning top ten finalist of the award, because unfortunately these books often lack quality design. This is my version of the book To the Nirvana by Ivan Kolenič.

About the design

At the beginning the narrative voice of the book creates quite unsettling claustrophobic feeling, as if we’re trapped in a head of pitiful whiny unsuccessful guy. That’s the reason why book has such a small format (…) and the layout lacks space around the edges. I also used bold version of the typeface to force this feeling but as the story unravels it gets more dynamic and readable so the font gets lighter and lighter. As a paragraph separator I used pictogram of an egg – tiny yet quite important element from the story.
